This buffet was a project I was commissioned to do for a couple in Washington. I also installed over 700ft of crown molding throughout the house.
One of the challenges of the project was the curved doors. My design is a cabinet made of cherry wood with curved doors that feature book matched curly cherry veneer with three glass shaker doors in the center, drawers below and room for a wine cooler. The design included a cast glass top custom made by a local glass artist. After constructing the cabinet I started on the curved doors.
They are constructed with plywood back and six ribs that define the curve then covered with bending plywood. Each door then gets a thin coat of veneering glue, the veneer is applied and a door is placed in a vacuum press for three hours. The veneer is not only book matched but is continuous through the doors above.
